TEACHING PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

By taking Teaching Practicum I, I have learned many things that are going to help me a lot in my future. I could have the experience to teach at different levels like Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. I had the opportunity to put into practice all the activities that I have learn in this path, but besides that, I also could see some of my mistakes that I didn’t know, and maybe for me those things were right, so now, I have to be carefully with those things.
The teacher’s role in the classroom is very important because remember that teachers are the facilitator in the classroom. They have to guide the students, and also to bring the necessary things to make the class interesting. It is something very important because if the teachers don’t try to make an interesting class, the students won’t enjoy it. I know that the most important is that the students learn, but teachers don’t have to forget that the students also have to enjoy the classes. It is like the best way to have good results at the end, and teachers can feel successful of their classes.
On the other hand, we have the student’s role. By participating, this means that students should contribute to classroom discussions by not only answering direct questions posed by the teacher, but answers questions posed by their peers. In addition, the students need to be motivated in their learning process, and by having motivated students, it means that the class will be better because they will participate in all the activities that the teacher brings to the class; if students are truly interested in learning, it is their job to think. When thinking, students should be able to find some experience or knowledge to apply this new learning to. When doing so, they should mentally prepare themselves to learn more about this new concept or idea. Now, this does not always happen, but a student who wants to be actively involved in their education, should think. Unfortunately, not all the students have the way to think, so in some cases, teachers will have some problems with the students because they don’t want to participate in the class, but within the teacher’s role, he or she has to look for a way to get the student’s attention.
By having this experienced, I have learned that teachers never stop learning in this path. They always have something new to learn from each of the students, and from each of the groups, and that teachers have to update in each of their classes because students need to learn with different methods. Something very important is that teachers have to know their students, and that they have to be careful with the activities that they plan to develop in the classroom because not all the activities fit with all the groups because as teachers know, everybody has a different learning style, so keep it in mind, the teachers must have a variety of activities.

Finally, there are many things that teachers have to improve in the classroom, and in Teaching Practicum II, there are still many things to learn, and also experiences to live, but students are ready to have that challenge.
